Thousand Island Pavilion
Wellesley Island, New York
Listed on the National Register for Historic Places, this
public pavilion was built in 1875 as a central dock for steamships,
cruisers and ferries from the mainland. The structure was remodeled
and enlarged several times throughout the years. In 1997, extensive
renovations were begun to correct the failing structure and make the
building accessible to the disabled. The scope included major foundation
and structural changes as well as new roof, stair, railings, and windows.
